Re: Interesting problem

when my filter has been plugged to the point of fuel starvation, it runs smoothly but just no power. idles smooth too, just won't rev up. i'm thinking air in your system.... i've seen that make a hellacious racket when i watched a mechanic bleeding air out the lines by cracking the nut. i've not had...

Re: 2-4 Quarts of WVO into a tank of diesel....BAD?

about the WVO water.... i've run NON dewatered WVO for over 120,000 miles with no ill effect. personally, i think the whole water issue is overblown. makes great armchair arguments but the reality is not borne out in the theory in my small world of experience. WVO at 10% is probably okay but the pro...

Re: Starting swap today..

i left my PS rack in when i deleted my PS... that was 110K miles ago. i really like the feel of the steering at speed with the non-powered PS rack tho it is heavy at low speed.

i can literally 'feel' the slipperiness of the road with my current setup.

okay. the picture of the tweaked shield resting on top of the injector with the visible gap sold me. consider me a 'reuser' on tuning day even tho i buy them for $2 each.

Re: What to take with, when looking at non-running car?

when a car is sold as non-running, i make no effort to get it running on-site... buy it and negotiate as a tow home job. even if it is something simple to get it going, the owner will feel rotten if you do so it is worth the $65 to rent a tow dolly and work on your treasure at home. checking compres...

Re: heater in my dasher stinks

some very cold weather observations from a very cold place.... it is not good but it is 'normal' for the heater output to drop at idle. keep your fan on LOW to increase the outlet temp as speeds above that overdrive the heater core when idling. bump your fan speed up when driving but HIGH fan speed ...

Re: Rough running when engine cold

T hat would depend how close the non return valve is. The inflating action can only occur beyond the valve, so any void before that acts as part of the chamber, and reexpands on the down stroke that makes total sense... and perhaps explains why my cheap Harbor Freight diesel compression tester seem...

Re: C-c-cold f-f-fuel and Snow in Atlanta

i run #2 all year round in northern MN! but i have an inline fuel heater! i've notice, prior to the fuel heater, that it was about -15F when i would get gelling problems with the newer recirculation filter style. i'd say you have a filter just at the end of the service life. you're running high filt...

Re: Rough running when engine cold

so here's a question on testing compression... Quantum-Man you'd mentioned filling the void of the adapter. i can see where that would really help get an accurate reading of how much that first compression stroke jumps up.. a worthwhile piece of info on engine health. but would it make any differenc...

Re: fuel line vacuum guage and clear fuel lines.

there is a light blue tinted polyurethane fuel line that is resistant to many fuels. i just bought some from a motorcycle shop and it is all over amazon.com. http://www.bikebandit.com/parts-unlimited-blue-polyurethane-fuel-line it is good to 220F which is a nice rating for WVO temps. you DO want a v...

Re: Rough running when engine cold

i've got a functioning ADA pump off my 91 that has a leaking throttle shaft seal. if you want, i can send the pump and the hard lines (long check valves) from the 91 for you to test with. there's probably better pumps out there from list members they'd be willing to send but if you have the stomach ...

Re: new top cover seal seems to big

i fought the cover seal, with the nibs squirting out and preventing the top from going on nicely. then i realized i had the wrong seal, after about 6 attempts at putting the cover on. i think i ended up using the plain o-ring and it went on perfect with no leaks.
