I use 2 large Racor filters. The first is 30 micron, second is 2 micron. Both have water block cartridges and bowls to see what is not going through. I pump using a strong but low pressure pump pushing the oil into the filters, not suction.

I have been looking for one for my 1990 for the last 2 years. Bite the bullet and buy a good used paper one.

If you have the bushing set with the plastic insert-use them. Not using them can cause 1 or 2 or 3 pads to wear unevenly and or let the caliper grab and/or be noisy on bumps , braking etc. The trick to installing them is to clean the caliper very well where that bushing goes into. Use a file or sand...

I would only worry about using WVO that has water in it. As long as there is no water, it's easy to buy some inexpensive filters [like from Northern Tool etc] and filter at home. Water is the killer. Even if the WVO is very dark, it should be clear, i.e. not cloudy or creamy. Do a frying pan test to...

Re: centrifuge

it is the only way to filter properly Really? I have been filtering for 2 years and have sold at least 10,000 liters of WVO that was filtered using 2 Racor filters . They both have water seperaters, the first is a 30 micron, second is 2 micron. I don't use WVO that has water in it and my last 3 mic...

It's the seal for the threaded plug you take out for the timing

Thanks for the reply. I have sorted it out. It wasn't oil pressure. I have the original dash with tach and the truck started as a diesel. The new alternator has the w wire. The issue seems to be because the alternator with the serpentine belt system turns much faster than the old one so it confuses ...

Electrical issue since 1.9 install

Since i replaced the 1.7 na with a 1.9 na with a serpentine belt system in my Vanagon there is and oil buzzer problem. Once the motor is warm as the rpms come down to about 2300-2500 rpms the buzzer and light come on. If i blip the throttle they go off. At idle or low rpms it will never come on. I r...

No short trips, unless it's well warmed up. synthetic oil or good dino like rotella and keep viscosity low -use 10-40 max in hot weather ,otherwise 0-30 or 5-30. These motors were designed for LT VW trucks and weren't meant for regular driving habits -i.e. trips to the store and their reliability re...

I have been going through exactly the same issue. I really didn't want to drill a hole if i didn't want to. At first i just attached an antenna extension wire and lay it on the top of the dash, only okay reception around, poor downtown. I then bought an amplified version which attaches to to inside ...

To tell you the truth, i never bothered using vacuum gauges for 95 % of the conversions i did. The 3 that i did do, 2 were because the vehicle was using a vowmax fuel filter which has a vacuum gauge on it to tell you when the filter was blocking. I ended up moving the gauge inside the cab for the cu...

I think it's going to be an issue if you are getting wvo from sources that use crappy oil, shortening, leaving it the fryer for months or letting it sit with water and other crap in it. Once i started only getting my waste oil from places that only used canola, but more importantly changed it often ...

I made and sold about 5 WVO filters using the VW cooler like you did. I went to a machine shop and had them machine a new fitting that has the threads to screw into an after market oil filter mount, then a 27mm nut to hold the cooler to the housing and then the smaller threaded fitting to mount a VW...
