I too am fighting fueling/air issues and posted a thread for direction. As far as lines most Advance/autozone/o'reilly's carry metric brake lines if that makes it easier... I too have contemplated making new lines...OR just buying a 25' roll of 3/8" aluminum tubing and making my own.

I bought a 1985 1.6TD Jetta but 2nd gear syncro is shot...does not matter how i shift or how long I hold the clutch---GRIND! On the other hand I have a 1981 Jetta 1.6 n/a that has a 5spd... I looked them over and it looks like I can unbolt the bracket/mount under brake booster...The shifter linkage...
