Re: Floorboard (Update)
My 86TD sounds like it has zero insulation. I always run around with the back seat out which doesn't help. The wife always asks are we going to take the tin can.

Re: My stepvan gone lite-up lass night
Well this just gets better and better. Now they don't want the stepvan with no subtracted cost to myself. I kind of feel that they have slighted my van. Either my van has no value or they are being overly generous.

Re: what pump for JX?
I've heard the VE pump off a 3.9 cummuns can create a monster on the M-TDI's. Don't know about the 1.6TD's. I believe it requires some modifications to fit.

Re: My stepvan gone lite-up lass night
I guess are poor Steffy as my wife calls her had pug pulled today and is off to the salvage yard. I try to negotiate the salvage designation off registration (Canada eh no title). This mean the big inspection with alot of unknows on the vechicle. Not worth risk for me anyway when I'm having T4 dream...

Re: My stepvan gone lite-up lass night
I'm doing back flips to-day. I just settled with the power company and it was very very fair and I get to keep the stepvan for only a 1000 off the settlement. So I'm going to try and resurrect her. She lives maybe? If not I have alot of real nice parts for another project.

Re: Bought a donor - now what?
I wouldn't drive your donor car if the turbo's gone. Most TDI,s will over fuel when this happen's with very bad results. Scuffed cylinders, bad bearings etc. You can pull the rubber intake off and easily check this. Just give it a spin.

Re: setting injector pump timing by ear
I wonder if it's possible for a diesel to turn over backwards like gas engines sometimes do?

Boy O boy a picture is a 1000 words. It looks like that poor engine is trying to go backwards.

Re: Solenoid style KSB valves
That IP looks like it from Bellville. The poor thing looks like it lost a lot of metal. The year of car that the IP was on can help to figure out what style KBS you have. I really have no idea if this Cummins manual that I have will apply to VW 1.6's. I'm just guessing that it does. But I'm sure wit...

Re: Solenoid style KSB valves
I wouldn't say the KSB ever replaces the regulator, but might work with it, when the solenoid or waxmotor are in play. Bosch had a number of cold-start schemes, any of which might be called KSB. From looking at schematics draws it appears that the IP with the KSB has a different pressure regulator ...

Re: Solenoid style KSB valves
oops SORRY I guess I started reading wright in the centre of the trouble shooting chapter. A pictures is a 1000 words right so that's were I started right at the pictures. It looks like VE pumps with automatic advance have a KSB valve. Well maybe on some of them. This valve takes the place of the pr...

Solenoid style KSB valves
This topic has come up twice in the last few days. Anyway I have the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual B Series Engines 1991 and 1994 Certification Levels. In it, it has trouble shooting for the valves. The valve on the 3.9 Cummins Bosch pump is 12volt operated from a thermal switch in the water jac...

Re: MK1 Jetta won't start
Well I'm very disappointed I thought you might be my neighbor. It would be a good idea to put your location in your sign in. Location does matter as far as the climate goes, rust belt, and parts. Anyway I learned something from you. I have never heard of a AFN. So I looked it up on Wikipedia. It loo...
