I moved the post as it was for a vehicle that was for sale. I left a shadow post in the original posting location that others can click on and read the post. Oh. So if someone found a VW diesel for sale on Ebay or CL or some other online place, but it wasn't their vehicle and posted a link asking w...

Nice, a Vanagon version of the old "combi" vans I used to see in Germany when growing up. Those were the air cooled rear engine ones. I think I saw a one or two of those that you talk about here. Haven't seen it of late.... but it do recall it. But that one I showed a link to, I've never ...

Well, since I took the cam out, I might give it to my buddy to give to the machinist. If not, I'll get a new cam and have him install it.

#8 wire is only good for somewhere around 50-60A, so your 175A fuse is way oversized for the wire capacity. If you had a problem, in your case, the wire will probably be the fuse since it's insulation will likely melt before your fuse will. I like the auto resetting breakers for auto things, but I'...

If you look at the craigslist posting and at the last picture in the posting, the glow plug fuse is high on the firewall between the right side (drivers side) of the air cleaner and where the heater hoses go through the firewall. It's hard to see, but it looks like both wires are connected to the s...

If you surface it, you will probably find that the cam rocks in the journals. The head will still be high in the center and the cam will rock like a teeter totter. A local place bends the heads back straight and line bores it, before a rebuild begins. How much is it warped? I didn't have the stuff ...

OH,OH!! Check the glow plug fuse,.. bypassed. HA. For the novice, where is that located? I haven't had the chance to take a closer look at mine..... I'm not in the market for one (have a project already 8) ) I just wanted people to 'evaluate' it.... the vacuum pump I caught..... wanted to see what ...

The used head I got has a warp, so it has to be surfaced. Interesting, salvage yard stated it was 'straight'.... well, if you use a crooked straight edge that's in your favor. :? Found a place that has "cheap" rebuilt injectors. For the cost of $40 to test the ones I have, I could get a re...

I just did more looking.... I found a 78 VW Rabbit just like mine listed for $1700!!! Granted, it runs. So, what is the "range" of prices for older VW diesels in your area? On Craigslist, I've seen 1700 all the way up to that 4000 I posed on. Even saw an ad that said two engines for $300. ...

Wow.... this is a pricey Rabbit.

Take a gander at this. And no, it is not mine, but I just wanted people's opinion. Found this trying to see what kind of parts could be around. (Forgive me if this ad is from a member here.....) http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/1697327792.html I looked at the ad, and it said "new vacuum pu...
