AC PROBLEMS

Hey guy's it's our favorite time of the year again. My AC worked fine last year but now it's not. I'm thinking by the readings i'm getting on my gauges that it has a restriction if not complete blockage. It has a new reciever dryer and was vacummed down good before recharged last year so now i think...

Amen on the electrical probs, mostly i think from the incessant windshield leaking probs that soaks the fuse box which is as you guessed it right under the area where they leak the most. As to the merc. I also have looked at a couple and would probably consider one if the price was right. As to econ...

Well sir that may be the problem. I did tighten it with a 1/2" ratchet to what felt like a lot, but i will definately torque it to the proper amount this time. Thanks and that's something i had'nt thought of as i've had (3) of these engines and retimed about 5 or 6 times and never used a torque...

CAMSAFT SLIPPAGE

My 1.6 N.A. started making a slight noise and loosing power along with noticably more smoke. Yesterday i checked the timing and the crank and I.P. were spot on but the cam off some. I always time with a feeler gauge under each side of my cam locking plate to make sure it's spot on. As i stated it ra...

Hagar, Hagar if you only knew how much i regard your advise as top notch. I seriously doubt anyone can top you in any way when it comes to these cars. I'm glad you feel i'm overly cautious about the egt thing because i really don't want to install a guage if it's not necessary. One of these day's i ...

EGT READINGS

I've turned up my fuel on the pump approx 1/4 turn. This still allows a good return to idle and generally makes the car more pleasing to drive. BTW its a 1.6 na. My question is this if i add a egt guage how do you insert sender into manifold? or can i simply use a infared temp reader i have to check...

Last but not least take off oil filter adapter and look thru that hole and make sure the rear bearing hole is lined up. It's not real easy to do so if you get it off a little just run a small shop vac hose thru front bearing hole in block and snug it against rear bearing and slowly chamfer out the h...

About a minute or more. Can just barely make out guage coming off peg so i figure about 5 lbs or so.Drained oil and put some Duralube in just to try and help make sure theres startup protection. I felt around in old oil and feel absolutely no type debris so i feel that's good. It's like it loses it'...
