Re: FS: Custom Stainless Steel Intake
The one pictured has the port shape for 1.9s but is the wrong port shape for 1.6 engines.

That's the best seal to use. Trim the nubs off with a utility blade.

Re: how do you get the cold start assembly together on a 1.5
Yup. Bear in mind that the two stop positions are adjustable. I would place that adjustment in the middle first, then install the lever, then adjust. Make sure that in the off position, it is completely off and in the middle of the slot.

Re: how do you get the cold start assembly together on a 1.5
The pin in the end of the piston cannot be moved. It's stuck there. There is not a valve that operates, the end of the shaft is a cam. In the slot is not advanced, rotated so that the outer flat area is pushing on the rod is advanced.

The timing belt replacement interval is 60,000 miles. If it breaks the engine will be seriously damaged.

No welding/brazing necessary. Just tighten them well.

Re: help resealing my pump
That's all fine as long as it doesn't leak. You might want to undo the four bolts and pull the very top of the pump, pull out the diaphragm/pin and sop up any diesel in there.

Yup, that's how I've done it.Diesel Dean wrote:Andrew great to see you back on here I bought two of the ferrules from McMasters today. So I just buy a 5/16 brake line bend it to fit and use the compression fittings from my old oil line. Then slip the new ferrules on the ends of the new line and tighten?

Re: 1.6 turbo oil feed line weeping oil
I've made custom oil supply lines using 5/16" steel tubing (brake line), steel ferrules from McMaster and a tubing bender. Just reuse the oil line compression nuts. Here's a link to the ferrules:

Re: help resealing my pump
The little fitting above where you have the return fuel hooked up is a port on the other side of the diaphragm that is open to atmosphere. On the turbo applications, boost is applied to the top port. Just leave both open and connect the injector return to the banjo fitting that is beneath where it i...

Re: help resealing my pump
Did you pay someone to do that? The diesel being plumbed in like that will wreck the diaphragm if it hasn't already. The fuel banjo underneath that connection should have two nipples, one large one for return to the tank and a smaller one for the injector returns. If you do not connect to the vacuum...

Re: help resealing my pump
Neither side of the pressure diaphragm should be plumbed to fuel. If it is, then it will ruin the diaphragm. Please post a picture of your connections.

Re: Mechanical VNT Turbo Vane Control
Bo, where are you located? This vane control far supersedes any of my previous work on the subject. Any of my previous threads should be ignored. I think I will be offering a kit before too long and so I am reluctant to give the exact details on the springs. The rate is not critical for the spring o...

Re: help resealing my pump
They can be used with a turbo to accurately control max fuel to match boost. All I'm saying is if you want a non-aneroid pump, then buy one and sell the aneroid pump you have. Don't mess it up by installing a non-aneroid top. You'll end up ahead financially and you won't have two defunct pumps. Ther...

Re: help resealing my pump
The aneroid equipped pumps are better pumps. If you want to downgrade to a non-aneroid pump, then buy another pump and sell the one you have for more.
