I searched and found 3 people reporting that code. One said the dealer told them to use better fuel, and the other two didn't post thier fix.

I'll search some more and maybe post up more.

I've fixed the little cracked gear on two different odometers, but this problem is different; that little narrow gear isn't on this one. I am convinced now, though, that the problem is in the internal mechanical parts of the odometer not the electronics, so I'll just have to take it apart again and...

Re: I P lines.

IMHO it sounds like a cracked line, Did you relieve tension on lines ? and did you install Rubber dampers ? hagar. Anytime you remove the lines or set timing or remove & reinstall the injection pump, you need ot releive the tension on the lines by loosening all 8 connections slightly, shaping (...

Scott took his time getting the clutch, so it took us awhile before we converted his wabbit to a 5 speed. Plus I've been busy so no time to post pics. (sorry) Obviously the easiest way to do a 5 speed conversion is to have a matching donor car to rob parts from as you do the conversion, but sometime...

No one seemed to mention the reverse lockout. YOu should have to push down on the shifter to get over to reverse. This is a key to adjusting it. The splines dont require you to remove it from the shaft, just loosen the bolt and rotate it. The "splines" are just there to grip. I'll be glad ...

Was anyone intereseted in tuning the 1.6 IDIs?
Nope. They discussed the VE pump on the tdi, and they discussed the PD tdi but only to introduce the common rail on the 09.

No mention of good ol' IDI.

Note: My car just got a MPG best of 43.8 mpg!

You can use the thinner seal. Just as you said, It has the added benefit that if your axle stub is slightly grooved you can reposition the seal to contact in an area other than the groove. Why dont you want to sleeve? I've never seen someone weld and remachine a axle stub. Probably would be cheaper ...
