I do indeed have the OUT bolt with the smaller ports installed. Think I went through that whole deal last time when the IP was the culprit.
Damac, you're right, thanks for pointing that out. I didn't even notice. I'll have to get to the bottom of that. Probably is a misaligned IP.

Re: Think I'm sucking air from the gas tank.
That makes sense. I was wondering why I wouldn't see a leak while it sits, even for a long period of time. I'm pretty sure the leak isn't through the IP because I can see the bubbles coming from the filter housing, and as you said fatmobile, more revs= more air. I am pretty sure the obstruction isn'...

Think I'm sucking air from the gas tank.
Ok I have had a similar problem ( http://www.vwdieselparts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=11796 ) So i am not sure if this is a continuation or totally different. Either way, my caddy stalls out every now and again and I found it was due to sucking air through the lines. It happened fairly seldom...

Re: Alternator issues.
I'm pretty sure it had something to do with just the presence of low voltage (or probably, more accurately, amperage). As it hasn't done it since I got the charging issues remedied. I imagine at that low current made the GP relay act almost as a flasher relay. Does this sound feasible?

Re: Alternator issues.
At least I think it's the alternator. My caddy left my girlfriend and I almost stranded at a park last night. (Or at least that's the excuse i gave her) We finally got it bump started and I was able to get home. Some of the symptoms last night were, the lights came on, although I'm not sure if they...

Re: Alternator issues.
Well I'll be. The alternator was bad. I didn't go directly to that because it only has a few thousand miles on it. Wish I could remember where I had bought it. now to figure out the gremlin that is messing with my glow plug relay.

Re: Alternator issues.
I do need to do that. Easy enough. I probably will tonight when I get home. What about the issue with the glow plug relay pulsing though? that doesn't seem like it would be related to a bad alternator.

Re: Can't prime pump.
The lift section is working. :D If the IP is on the bench, 12V is needed at the cutoff solenoid to allow fuel to the HP delivery section (or the cutoff pin & spring can be removed if the solenoid is not stuck.) Mine always seem to be frozen into the HP head. :/ If the HP head is working, the fu...

Re: Can't prime pump.
When I did my most recent test, I had the pump on the bench. I clamp the rear bracket (opposite the input shaft) in a 5" vise, and run clear vinyl tubes to a container. If you have a spare IN bolt, I'd put that in place of the OUT bolt and try to move fuel through the IP using the drill. If th...

Re: Can't prime pump.
Sorry, it's been a few days that I could actually get to this. Yesterday i went in and first tried pumping straight out of an atf bottle. It sucked it up to the pump but didn't push it, that i could see, past that. Couldn't see any in the clear return line or anything but the slightest little hint c...

Re: Can't prime pump.
Tyler. there is free flow from the tank to the pump. Using my hand vac pump it sucks it up pretty easily, i also allow it to burp before I hurredly stick it back on to the pump union. there are clear lines from the filter to the pump and translucent line from the tank to the filter, so i can see wha...

Can't prime pump.
After throwing a rod through my last block last month, for fairly unknown reasons, I installed another block and put my old (Pretty sure it was rebuilt within 5000 miles) Injection pump back on. After trying to crank over the motor through several battery charges, I noticed it's not even lifting the...

Re: c;acking valve/ Loss of power
Rotate the engine by hand, with a wrench on the crank bolt to see if you feel any valve to piston contact (slipped camshaft timing). Otherwise, it could be a dirty injector or your timing slipped a bit (not really sure how this would happen except by the cam pully not being tight), or possibly even...
