Diaphragm Pumps

This pump must function just the same as an other diaphragm pump, ie. UDOR. So, I think the one side must be loaded with oil and the other side air. Why, when purchasing the rebuild kits, do they not include BOTH gaskets and the diaphragm? Are the seals or gaskets for the covers super important?

Vacuum Rebuild Kit Q's

Ordered a vacuum rebuild kit from (competitor's name removed by moderator) . They sent two things: a diaphragm and a gasket. Upon dismantling the pump, I found where they both go but there is another lid that has a similar gasket, but no replacement was sent (it is kinda a rhombus/diamond). Not too ...

I think the glow plug harness is next on their agenda, if the light comes on again. But aside from swapping, not replacing, glow plugs; the cylinder no. 1 has received a new injector as well.

UPDATE

Hey, I just thought I would let you all know. We just got our 2010 Jetta Sportwagen TDI back after my deer incident. So, it took several visits back to a body shop...the dealership in MN that repaired the body forgot to recharge the AC, didn't find that out until 500+ miles back into the state. So, ...

Thanks Vincent

Thanks much...I am going to get back to that possibly next week. I just finished doing the basic glow plug rewiring. I used the fuse block, different colored 12g wire, modified eyelet connectors, etc. Got it all done...and only 3 plugs worked. Then two...and then one. My memory is fading with old ag...

Temp Gauge working intermittently

After I soldered the volt stabilizer on the instrument cluster, my gas gauge works perfect but the temp gauge sometimes reads 0. When it reads 0, my auxiliary volt gauge jumps all over the place. Any ideas on where to start?

Thanks Vince, did wonders for me and much better than just crimping the connections. Also fixed my odometer while I was at it.

Vince Waldon wins the trivia. I pulled the dash and soldered the three connections on the voltage stabilizer. Works beautifully now. I also decided to pull apart the Speedometer while I was in there. The red gear wasn't broken but had pulled off of the axle it was on, so it was no longer in gear. Ju...

Voltage Stabilizer connector?

Where is the Voltage Stabilizer connector located? Do you mean on the alternator?

New Update

Update 6/30. I have the fuel gauge working. Must've been a stuck relay or something else. Anyways, what I have noticed is the temp gauge not working...and then when it does kick on, the temp gauge shows a lower reading than it normally has. Before the pointer came up to the coolant light, and now it...

Temp/Fuel Gauge

Recently, my temp gauge has not been working, or working intermittently. And most recent, my fuel gauge stopped as well. I have fingered through much of the bentley manual and none of the wire color codes match up. I even pulled every relay. Hold on, before I did this I way able to get everything to...

By the way, my Jetta is road worthy. I will stand by it for any trip...with AAA. But the GF needs something that is hands down....maybe that means something that gets worked on by a real mechanic....a working machine. I love diesels. I have come from a line of Volvo's. I love them with my life...but...

VW owner likes Mercedes

hey, There is a 1983 Mercedes 250D for sale in town, mint condition. Can't get a hold of them for questions. I am wondering is the 250 a turbo D or not? Also, I own an 82 Jetta D, the 1.6N/A, wondering if the Mercedes might be a more economical alternative to to my ride. It's interior looks more plu...

Well, thanks much. Nice pic, I guess its that kinda thing where I was basically asking "how do I know if my light bulbs are burnt out?" And yes, the 10's turbo lag is quite weird. The DSG transmission capitalizes on the use of all six gears to get the most out of the turbo. We're still in ...

I had somewhat a similar problem. These cars are old enough to have had your babysitter's dad rewiring the system to his own diagram. Whoever had my car disconnected the fan from the thermoswitch in the radiator, taped the blade connectors together and called it good. So, the fan was always on...unt...
