Heated fuel filter

Post by VW cat »

Has anyone sucessfully converted a VW oil filter/cooler housing, used on turbo engines, to fit a fuel filter. I was wondering if a fuel filter is made to fit it. Trying to think of a way to avoid buying a new heated filter assembly for veggie oil. Maybe this is a bad idea.. :?

I looked into this. I think you would need to remove the nipple from the stock filter head, and then put on that goes bigger to the oil filter size, then attach the cooler, then replace that nipple with a reducer for the fuel filter. The probel arrises that one was designed for vacuum and one for pressure. the gaskets surfaces may need to be modified........When Frybrid has them they sell them for 149.00 which is worth the money if you think about all the work and trial and error.
