MREA Energy fair June 23-25

Post by Fatmobile »

The midwest renewable energy association is having their energy fair soon.
http://www.the-mrea.org/energy_fair.php
The first year I showed the Fatmobile, I was the only one there with a vegy burning car.
The second year I was still the only one there with a vegy burning car.
The 3rd year there were 4 of us and the year after that there were 9.
Last year there were so many they wouldn't all fit in the Alternative fueled vehicle showcase, I lost count. There were several people who arrived, smelling like fries and just parked in the parking lot like everyone else.
I might take a break this year as an exibitor... run a mini vegy shuttle to the campground and back... and volunteer.

If you havent been to the MREA fair.....GO!!!
Great people!!!!
Great time!!!!
Great ideas!!!
Vendor spots are a little....aaaah....pricey, but general admission is still worth the bang for the buck!
I think its about 8 dollars for a day, but you at least get the satisfaction of realizing that YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
Join the revolution!

Yeah, it's a great fair.
Showing a car in the alternative fueled vehicle showcase has always been free, plus they provide a place to camp and an invite to the Thursday night dinner.
This year they are providing a tent and making the alternative fueled vehicle area a big thing, really promoting it.
After years of leaving us out in the hot sun.
Heck of a year to take a break from exhibiting but I'll be going over to a guys house before the fair and working toward a conversion on his Rabbit so he can drive to the fair on vegy.

I was wondering if one of you fortunate souls who attended the MREA Energy fair would be able to share anything of interest. Maybe one year I'll make it there.

Watch out for the light toy guy, he's a freeeak  8)

Last year there was a guy who asked me if I knew the wizard?
He had asked a couple folks about the guy with the light toys and they said, "He's the wizard". Pressing further he asked more questions. They got nervious looks said, " We've already said too much" and quickly walked away.
"Yeah, I know the wizard" 8) . "Not much I can tell you about him though". :D

I spent most of the time in the green flag tent this year. Put in a big garden and was learning food storage, permaculture.
Checking out the solar hot water workshops too.
Not sure if I saw you though.
I didn't see one vegy burning car with a vacuum gauge on the fuel line,... and some of the VWs were even running a return to tank setup... without a gauge. Insane.
Did you see the freak with the light toy over by the music tent?
