How do I reprogram a VW keyless remote if I buy a used one? It is for a 2003 Jetta TDI.
Have heard stealerships will charge $$$ between the new key and reprogramming.

reprogramming a VW keyless remote
I was looking through the manual of the '98 New Beetle I bought on Friday and happened to notice the process in there. I would guess it is similar to your car.
1) Insert the master key (not valet key) into the ignition lock and switch on the ignition (but don't start the engine)
2) Lock the vehicle from the outside manually using the second master key or valet key.
3) Press the lock or unlock button on the remote control one time and wait at least 2 seconds
4) Press either button once again one time
5) Switch off the ignition and remove the key from the ignition lock
The manual programming procedure is complete. The remote control is functional again.
Note: You have only 30 seconds to perform steps 2 through 4
