I am putting an 85 Golf Diesel engine in my 82 Diesel Vanagon. I finally got the engine installed today. I was waiting to install the vanagon oil pump and pan after I got the engine in since the Golf pan was smaller and easier to slide it under the van. I took the pan off to replace the oil pump and there is another metal tube coming out of the case into the pan. I looked in my Haynes manual but couldn't find anything about it. I had to bend it very slightly so I could install the vanagon oil pump. My old engine did not have that. Can someone tell me what the metal tube is for? Do I need to do anything with it since the oil pan will now be the vanagon type and not the golf type?
Any and all responses are appreciated,
Kevin
