Fuel pump leak

Post by Brad »

I found I have a fuel leak by the cold start lever on the fuel pump on my VW Diesel Vanagon. It is a 1.9l newer engine. I pulled a fuel pump off of a 1984 VW Rabbit Diesel. I am not sure if it works. Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks, Brad.

Just take the pump off and have the seal replaced for the cold start lever. Its very cheap to have done or you can do it yourself. Its also easier than trying to replace the pump with a 1.6L NA / 1.5L NA pump and having to go thru the agonies of hell trying to time it for the 1.9L engine. :D

TO COKE,
You know, it's interesting, but I am presently struggling with a friend of mine. We're trying to do just that; adding an injection pump from a 1.6D, to a 1.9TDI. Well, like you said, it's certainly been difficult tyring to time this thing. Can you shed some more insight on this please. If you have any more thoughts on this, the info will be greatly appreciated.
Combi conversion; gas to Diesel. (spotter).
