Convert TD to TDI?

If you mean converting your block, no, nothing will fit, you will have to find a complete TDI engine and swap it.

Yeah, it's a completely different engine.

Well, actually the first TDI versions had the same lower end aside from pistons and crank sprocket, soo... it is quite feasible to get TDI pistons and custom rods along with a TDI head and come up with a 1.7L TDI engine. Combustion chamber would be large and so compensation would need to be made.

I've heard some of the blocks are the same (I have no idea which TDI you have).
Maybe you can just swap the head and pistons.... or maybe the head, pistons and rods... along with the injection pump.

You forgot to mention if this is a 1.6TD or a 1.9TD? I assumed it was a 1.6 TD.

1.9 TD ... im just asking because the engine of the 1.9 tdi (jetta 2002) looks very similar, only some parts are not the same and im not an expert thats why im askin.

I don't have any apart right now so that I can compare side by side, sorry about my misunderstanding.

I tried to convert a 1.7 IDI to DI with the pistons from a 1.9TD. The problem is that the rods won't fit the piston. Got the wrong diameter.

The ones from the 1.9TD (AAZ) will fit the TDI pistons, but than the offset from the pistons to the top of the engine is not ok.
