One engine that I rebuilt had oil in the exhaust when dismantled. By the time I got it all back together and started (several months later) I had forgotten about the oil. After it got warmed up it BILLOWED the smoke. I mean it clouded the whole frekin' neighborhood. I was very disheartened about what was wrong with the engine build. That night I remembered the oil and ran it the next day until it burned clear. I'm not saying that is your issue, but it might be something burning off the parts.

It is probably a good idea, let it run for at least a couple of hours to clean it self out. It sounds like it is working correctly. Hope that you don't have a mouse nest in there that could catch fire.

I hope your right.... a couple of hours Andrew? I will try it. The other thing I was thinking is that the relays might be a bit strange. There is at least one weird relay .... double polled relay with the same pin arrangement as a normal one (87 + 87a alternating on)(double is:87a+87 both on or both off).

The relay beside (near) the two fuses seems to be set up opposite a normal relay (ie: if normal relay is 87 normally open that relays says 87a N-O)

Oh yeah my observation yesterday is that the comb. air control valve is not opening for the high flow pump... I think it is due to a relay but need to check schematic.

I will mess with it and run it for a while, thanks for all your help!

Btw: I did run lots of higher pressure water(with lots of flow) through the heater exhaust and it seemed to flow well on both sides of the symmetrical exhaust. If there was a mouse nest it is gone. Scrubbed the whole thing with a brush, soap (and in places wire brush) specifically to remove oil(diesel).

I was thinking about a mouse nest or some restriction in the ducting inside your vehicle that is getting hot and smoking.

Herman I guess thats the last thing to check now.

I can't imagine the air getting so hot that it can smoke anything peticularly when passing over the fuel tank  But yes it is something to check out... I have looked down the ducting and it appears clean but I have yet to check the check valve.
