I have some WVO... now what?

Post by tbones »

Hi All,

ASSUMEing I can get my 83 Vanagon 1.6TD to start again (injector pump issues), I'd like to start using some of this used veggie oil I have from a from a local restaurant. Can I just put it in the tank, (after filtering) and let it mix with the diesel?

If so, what's a good ratio?

How long is the shelf life for WVO ?

Any helpful hints? (WVO for Dummies?)

In my 1996 Passat TDI I'm running Biodiesel (I think 99%bio 1%diesel???) from Hilltop station in Centerville, MD, (Rt. 213 on eastern shore)

thanks, Steve

check out http://www.frybrid.com/forum/ and http://biodiesel.infopop.cc/eve/forums/ ... /159605551 lots of info on wvo conversions on the two sites. Do yourself a favor a study this before you decide to go with a blend (dumping filtered and dewatered wvo into tank with diesel) people do it and it works. but that is not saying it is good for engine.
Myself I have injector line heaters and a fuel line heater, plus a filter heater and I am still planning on adding a coolant heat exchanger somewhere down the line. i just added the fuel line heater and am working out some kinks with it. Adjusting the heat .
also research here there are many wvo users here. there are many different systems and diy systems
