Best way to fill up with fuel?

Post by chrischris »

I have found that my diesel pickup will take much more fuel in the tank if I wait for the foam to go down. The only problem is, I am not sure how much! Last time I filled up I added nearly 1.5 gallons after the initial shut off. Can anyone reccomend a procedure to mazimize fuel capacity?

Fill til it shuts off... clean a window... fill til it shuts off... clean another window... repeat til all windows are clean... (don't forget the quarter windows)

Or you can try doing a slow trickle which would not foam - and any foam that did form would have plenty of time to break.

What would Mylicon drops do to diesel? :?

I do not know on the mk1 but my 86 jetta has a plastic vent in the fuel neck which is a vent for gassers.
If I hold this open I can get about 1.5 gallons of extra fuel in the tank.

I don't bother trying to get every last bit in. With the mileage we get I don't have to fill up often anyways :)
