I am think of getting a 1998 tdi jetta and selling my 1986 1.6TD. How much nicer is the ride and creature comforts going to be. The wife doesn't like the A2 much. AC really doesn't preform too well.

How about stock performance?

I have never driven a A3 and won't be driving this one prior to flying out to purchase.
