vane pump compatiblity

Just wondering if the vane pump assembly from a '79 1.5 rabbit would work in a injection pump for 92 n/a. I think the impeller and outer ring are machined as a matched set, so I'd be swapping both components... but I'm not sure if they're the same dimensionally over those years. Thanks in advance!

I think they would interchange. In fact I think the vane pump from any bosch VE pump with the same drive shaft diameter would interchange including counterclockwise rotating pumps, pump with the accel lever on the other side and pumps for an engine with a different number of cylinders, but I'm not sure... Report back your success.
