Larger Fuel Tank for 82 Diesel Rabbit

Post by 82vdub »

I believe I read that the later Cabriolet's got a larger fuel tank to them than the original 10 gallon unit. I'm thinking about trying to get a larger fuel tank for my diesel. Does anyone know of a larger (than 10 gal) factory gas tank that will fit on my car without modifications? Will the gas and diesel tanks interchange or is there fitment and hose connection issues?
Everybody else lists their cars here - but not me.

I have too many to count

I don't know which ones will fit. But I believe some tanks meant for gas are galvanized, which is bad for diesel. Some are tin lined which IIRC is fine for diesels. Fatmobile has converted some gas cars to diesel so hopefully he will chime in.

I heard the spare tire well had to be donut sized for a cabby tank to work.
