Used turbo unit

Post by Diesel Dean »

I bought a KKK 24 turbo off ebay and it was locked up. I was able to get it to spin free. I took it all apart and started to clean it up. The shaft has very light pitting will it take the high rpms? I am sure it would be very hard to find a new shaft so if the pitting is to bad I will part out and sell.
Thanks

Pitting can cause problems. If it is real bad in the seal area. Then it will leak oil. If you change bearings the inner races won't hold as well and could spin. Also if it has a lot of pitting it could throw it out of balance. Its all a question of how bad the pitting is. I'm of the school that runs them until they quit spinning or leak to bad. Then usually they make go paper waits. Then again thats just me and I have 5 spares in the barn.
