Where is the brake lights switch on my 80 Rabbit Pickup?

Coke I think you are correct for early German Rabbits (through '80). If I remember right, for '81 and later American cars the master cylinder switch is for the low pressure warning light and the stoplight switch is on the pedal cluster. So for an '80 there should be two switches on the master cylinder.

Yes there is 2 switches on my 80 VW and the plug for the brake lights on the master cylinder was all wet so I did some cleaning and the battery has been charging over the weekend I have not messed with it much more and I probably will not until all the battery cells are at a good charge.
