Oddly enough my MK2 Bentley says that only the intake gasser valves can be ground... everything else needs to be replaced evidently. But then they give really precise details of all the seat angles.

Dunno what a professional head shop would do... so far I've never had to go farther than lapping them by hand to get a really good seal.

I replace all valves for the fact that once you grind the seat and the valves, the clearance for the cam adjustment shims may get too small that a small enough shim may not be available. Valves are between seven and eight dollars each new.

I believe the exhaust valves shouldn't be ground because they are hollow and filled with sodium.
