mine are definately short and shot!
only produces enough power to run headlingts or heater, but not both well
also, the slip rings are well worn

Unfortunately, if your slip rings are well worn then your new brushes will wear in a very short time... if they work at all. Might make sense to put your brush money towards a rebuilt alternator.

Often by the time the brushes are worn the commutator is as well... and it then grinds thru the new brushes in short order.

If you 'ovate' or is it 'ovalize' the screwholes on the brush set you can get extended life assuming your comutators aren't knackered...
