Not a diesel question, but.......
Can I fit '83-'84 GTI vented rotors on the front of my '81 Caddy, or do I also need the GTI calipers? I heard the rotors fit right on, but wanted another opinion or two before I order.
I figured that would be a decent upgrade, but I'm not planning on racing or autocrossing so maybe the vented discs are overkill....thoughts?

Yeah, they fit right on, but you'll need the thinner GTI brake pads.... the vented rotors won't fit between the thick pads.
I suppose if your pads are worn down enough they would work.

Or you can go to 10.1" Vented "Big" Brakes. Get the spindles, calipers, carriers, discs, master cylinder, and proportioning valves from an MKII Scirocco 16V.
While you are at it.... get the rear discs off the rocco too... they are a direct bolt up for the MkI Rabbit, except for the ebrake cables, they'll need some working.
I just added added GLI 10.1 brakes and a 22MM master cylinder to my MKII Jetta. Nice improvement.
