fuel milage gas vs diesel

I have a diesel rabbit truck 81,the engine is pretty worn out,Im curious if I go with a gas engine what kind of milage are they getting?Thanks

From what I've read (I unfortunately don't own one), they get upper 20's to lower or mid 30's for mileage.
Everybody else lists their cars here - but not me.

I have too many to count

I had a Caddy GT with a 1.8litre 90hp engine with mechanical injection (K-jetronic??) and got 7-8L/100km. I believe thats about 30mpg?

My 1.7 liter gas Rabbit gets 35 mpg.

Years ago, I had one with the darned 4-speed (gasoline) and it was always depressing to pull up to the pump (EVEN BACK THEN!!!!!).
No matter how I drove it, it really struggled to get into the 30's.
I believe there is considerably more wind resistance than the Rabbit sedans.
The center-core beam melter has been given a new lease.
