Does a key go in the IP Shaft Keyway? '85 Golf n/a

Post by Harry »

It's been 2+ years since I had this car running and can't remember. Bentley doesn't seem to show there is a key for the keyway, but I can't remember. If no key is used, how do I set the pump on #1, or wherever it's supposed to be? I know this sounds dumb but I'm stumped on this.
Thanks, Harry

Yes, there is a small key in the IP shaft.
It's the cam that doesn't use a key.

Fatmobile thanks, makes sense now more. Of course, after 2 years, I can't find the key, it's not on the shaft presently. Any ideas on where to find another one? Again, thanks.

I think any parts store would have one.
...or the dealership might
,... or the local bosch service center.

it's just a woodruff key. You should be able to find them around your town.
