New dipsticks for diesel Vanagons

Post by caddywompus »

We finally got our production run of these in and they are slick! Check them out here: http://www.greaseworks.org/modules.php? ... _album.php

To order from our shopping cart: http://www.greaseworks.org/store/produc ... cts_id=328

Since you can't get these new anymore anywhere on the planet (not even VW), I hope the moderators see this as an asset to this forum and not as an afront to Jack, whom I personally highly recommend and buy parts from routinely.

Thanks!

I don't see a problem with providing something Jack doesn't.
Probably should have been put in the buy and sell but htis forum doesn't move very fast and it's good to have the van stuff all in one place.
... so I'm not even going to move it.

Just a note for fellow van owners

Unless you're really on a budget, I think those of us who've had bricks(diesel westy/vanagons) for a while would agree that the better solution to a missing/broken oil dipstick is to upgrade to the later design, which reportedly provides better resolution and protection from blow-out via high pressures from a worn engine/blow-by.

No offense to CaddyWumpus!

No offense taken. At present we have one more of these remaining and don't plan on doing another production run.

BTW, there's a great write up on how to fab the later style dipstick somewhere on the Diesel Vanagon yahoo group. I believe Jim was the author if you want to search for it there.
