timeing belt sliped on lt35 2.5 tdi van/ engine cut out was 2nd gear when it happened could ther be damage to engine/ cheers john

Yes, there is probably damage to the valves at least.
Won't know how bad it is until the head comes off.
A local mechanic just broke a timing belt on his ALH TDI beatle.
Looked good when he opened it but will probably need new valves,.. but i haven't talked to him since he sent it to the machine shop.
