Hagar, it's OK to name or link to forums.
The GTD forum isn't a large autoparts warehouse.
They do allow venders to be listed over there, including vwdieselparts.com, but the site doesn't vend anything,... doesn't compete with Jack and often promotes his business.
People often get sent here from the GTD forum for info or parts.
The GTD forum is the performance section of this site as far as I'm concerned,.. it's our sister site.
Much more info than there is vending going on over there,
can't let business get in the way of that.
Right about now I'm thinking it's a good idea to have 2 seperate sites.

The other great site is down again!
If something needs to be done to bring it back and keep it strong then would someone in a position to do so, do so?!?
Is it a money issue? Do we need a serious hat passing? Public radio style fund raising?
I don't really know the questions let alone the answers but I do know i don't like the site down

Forums.
Fatmobile : Thank you I only enter two forums Jack's and Dan's. Combined experience and smarts of those two groups is a joy to see.
There was some heated debate years ago about not "robbing" Jack to pay Dan , sort of thing..
Many of us read both forums , the "Worm" does "Chucles" does.. What forum is best ? please do not ask hagar EH ?
Best part for me was the NON automotive help I have received from people. Medical help and General Education.
taken from Dans :
Perhaps I've got the wrong end of the stick here, the problem is he cant get
the Q to start. Having taken lines apart, only set the 'start' back if upon
removal, diesel drops out. As it appears to me from the information
provided, the lines are dry, so it will never start if lines remain so, or
their supply orifaces. Timing plug only been out once, and only to check
fuel getting there. If solenoid is not doing it's job then Bill'll be in his
coffin before it starts from cranking :o)

Above is a sample of an entry by the "Worm" on Dan's..fresh off the press.
hagar.
PS : for dial-up people Dan's is good. (no pictures).

Forums of note .
The way I red the question ? "The other good VW diesel site". implying that this site is a GOOD site EH ? . This site is IMHO one of the best two I know about. The other GOOD site is Dan's IMHO the two sites are complimentary. WE need both.
We need this site for the pictures EH ? what would a Bentley without drawings and pictures be ? We need the other site for the excellent "Archive " . am I hagar contradicting myself ? YES. why ? because in the past I mentioned that I do not NEED this or any other forum. SO ? .why am I here ? Answer : by request of many members. , feels good to be wanted (needed?) EH ?.

Site versus Forum , is that difference important ? , here is my understanding "Site" is the Academy , "Forum" is the location of the lecture hall . I am a Rabbit "NUT" so ? that is where I hang out.
On Dan's in the non TDI forum on Jacks ? VW Diesel (general) .( very enjoyable).

I had this problem in my 85 Jetta as well. First thing that that helped
was to drain the water separator. Cleaning grounds, alternator connections,
etc., also helped. The final fix came when the glow plug relay stuck on. I
replaced the glow plug relay and never saw the glow plug light come on when
it shouldn't, after that.

See ? how fast and easy the Archive is . (I am Hagar there , here I am hagar)

I must thank you Hagar, it took a lot to read all of those pages, but it was worth it

I hope the database is still in good shape.
We usually send people over there for turbo performance tuning.
I recently started a performance fora over here,
because it's becoming obvious all that info shouldn't be in one place.
