Replacement coolant hoses for 82?

I've upgraded my cooling system with a later new radiator and replaced the rigid lines but the hoses over the engine are patched like Frankenstein at this point. I know the hoses are discontinued and if found cost the price of an overhaul. What are people doing for hose replacement? I can fabricate my own but I'm just wondering if there is a better way.

I've seen some items on Ebay that are from scrapped vehicles in Europe, mostly Germany. I'd not hesitate to try the 1.6 Turbo-diesel vanagon used hoses being sold on Ebay from Germany. The cost isn't bad at all to my mind.
