Can anyone advise me on how to mount the throttle lever on an injection pump if I have no register marks from its previous removal? Is there a base "bench" setting that I should start with, or do I find the correct one by trial and error?
The engine is a 1.9 AAZ TD out of a 1997 Canadian Golf that I've slowly been resurrecting over the last month. I've got most of the kinks worked out but I'm not getting decent acceleration out of it. I've taken care of fuel, air, and timing..... they seem to be in order thanks to help from all of you.
I've looked closely at the throttle lever and I'm suspicious that it has been removed and replaced prior to my installing the engine in a vanagon.
The end of the throttle shaft has a groove that runs across it; The throttle lever has a single line that runs across the hole that the shaft fits through. The line on the shaft does NOT currently line up with the line on the lever.
