I have a couple of symptoms with my 1.6na Dasher that I'd like to run by you gentlemen. I'm getting air in my pump. The engine stalls within a minute or two at idle. With the enigne running, there are no bubbles in the clear line to the pump but my clear return line from the injectors to the "OUT" banjo does have lotsa bubbles. When the engine is running there is no fuel leakage from the pump : after the engine stalls, there are lots of bubbles coming out of the pump in the clear "IN" line (looks like foam), and there is fuel dripping from the IP sprocket. My tentative diagnosis is that air is being drawn in around the input shaft when the engine is running and fuel is leaking out around the shaft when the engine is shut off. Does this sound reasonable? I am planning to reseal the pump, but would appreciate some feedback on this. Many thanks!

What kit did you order?
The DGK126 won't have the mainshaft seal,
I order it seperately.
Make sure the set you ordered has the shaft seal.

I ordered a Bosch kit on Ebay from a guy who includes a shaft seal in the order. I'm expecting to replace the water pump at the same time the IP is off the engine, even tho' it's not leaking. It looks like the original water pump. Any tips for getting those aluminium bolts out?

While you're at it, you might consider changing the passenger side motor mount. You'll have the pump off, and it's just a few more bolts to get the bracket off. Of course, you'll be wise to change the timing belt as well, and then the engine front seals........
It never ends sometimes. But seriously, consider the timing belt and mount. You'll be glad you did.

I think it's the dasher in his sig, and am not sure how the motor mounts are setup, so they might not need changed like the Rabbits.
The waterpump bolts???
If the whole housing is out, I smack the metal they screw into, there's one bolt in a vally that's hard to smack.
Also add a smack square on the head.
Heat then cold water will break the bonds.
It's a good time to install a new I-shaft seal and o-ring.
You could also pull the I-shaft out a little while the seal carrier is out, and see how the intermediate shaft bearings look.
