In addition to all the good advice above... check and clean all your ground connections!

Round switch versus hexal head ? ? ?

Post by doonboggle »

In my 81 pickup diesel, the plug that fits onto the 2-prong back-up lite switch is round.
The 'new' switches available on the web are all hexal heads.... and larger than the hard plastic plug.

Does anyone know where a ROUND switch can be located? I've looked all over the web for several hours ... now and then ... and they all have the hexal head.

Thanks

I hope everyone remembers to send the info in a PM,

if it's a large online parts warehouse
that competes with Jack; our sponsor.

Wouldn't want to post that on the forum.

Just a reminder, haven't mentioned it in awhile.

You can fix/modify the switch by taking it apart and flipping the plastic "button" over, mine started flickering and that's what I did to fix it. The only problem is the backup lights blink when I shift into 5th gear. I also got some LED bulbs so the switch should never fry again.

Got no usable response, so wound up making 2 small in length wire connections from male prongs to female openings. Not kosher for the rabbit ... but it works.

But would prefer a usable switch.......
