gasser to tdi is it worth it??

This forum is for TDI (Turbo Direct Injection) questions/posts. Non-TDI Motors (Including the 1.6, and 1.9 or other variant turbo diesel motors) should go in the VW Diesel General Forum

True TDIs are computer-controlled. If you want to avoid that your best bet is to try to locate a Canadian 1.9 TD or look into the MTDI conversion of a TDI to a mechanical pump. As for conversion from a gasser, there's a bit of hardware to change and the gas tank would need to have the electric pump removed/bypassed and the tank pretty well cleaned out. As for the transmission, if you have a TD with enough low end torque and the right gear ratio you may get away with a gasser transmission, but typically the diesel transmissions have lower (numerically higher) gear ratios to give better acceleration.
