Rebuilt injector pump-interesting issue

Post by vwkook »

So I ordered an injector pump for my 1.6NA from Jack a few weeks back. (I didn't really trust myself to rebuild one at this point, so I took the easy way out)
My old one was leaking and was pretty sloppy as well.

After driving with the new pump for a few weeks, I've noticed that it seems like there's a slight lag with less low end torque when taking off whereas with the old one, it was right there.

On the other hand, high RPM performance is MUCH better than I've ever had with one of these vehicles. Fuel economy is much better as well.
I re-ringed the engine back in December.

You may want to play with the timing, advance or retard it a bit to move the powerband to what you like.
Everybody else lists their cars here - but not me.

I have too many to count

This.

Also, you can play with the max fuel screw for added low end power. Just be wary of the black smoke.

I guess I was just throwing this out for the heck of it.

The timing is advanced a bit.(marbles at start up with cold start lever out.

I haven't messed with the smoke screw yet and I may just leave it alone.

I'll have to see how it does towing the boat.

Fuel economy seems great though I haven't crunched numbers yet.
