Injection pump leaking

Post by Una »

I fired up my Rabbit after work today, and diesel started pouring out under the engine. Popped the hood while it was idling so I could find the problem hose. It wasn't a hose. Seems to be coming out the cold start advance lever's bushing. What a pain this car is being to me! I will beat it, someday.

Unfortunately, sometimes you have to go through hell to get to paradise 8)
Everybody else lists their cars here - but not me.

I have too many to count

That's usually where it comes from when it pours out. You can reseal it yourself if you're handy/clever. I've rebuilt/resealed about a dozen or so. There's really nothing to them. Just keep track of where the parts go.

VW dealers sell a kit (if you can bother them to look up the PN) for just those seals. But, if those seals are leaking, the rest are sure to follow.

Already spent a small fortune to have a rebuilt on overnighted from Jack.. I just want this car to be a reliable commuter. Everything I replace will get the best possible replacement (brand new gas tank, two weeks ago, for example.. Or the brand new hoses, water pump, thermostat, timing belt, tensioner, etc last weekend).. :)
