Sorry if this has been covered before! I used the search engine to no avail.
Thought I'd run this by the experts. I installed the cylinder head on one of my engines today - its an ME block (has hydraulic lifters), circa 1985? Anyway, I was reading the protocol in the factory manual and I did not have my glasses on. My brain was somewher else when I went step 1 to 30 ft-lbs and then step 2 to 60 ft-lbs. It was only then that I noticed that the "ft-lbs" that I was reading in the manual were actually "newton meters". Should I take any additional steps (1/4 turn, 1/8 turn etc?) or leave it as is? Thanks!

Re: Head bolt tightening protocol mistake - what to do
Don't worry, the simplest thing to do is to slacken off the bolts and start again. My research tells me that the stretch blts don't reachthe plastic stage until about 115 lbft, then later about 95 to 105 lb ft.
I personally never do the 90 degree turns. Well I kind of do
I observe the dial on the torque wrench and on the angled turns part, I stop as soon as the dial stops increasing.
I then repeat with the second round after warming and then after about 300 miles.
This means if there is an issue there is room for reuse of the bolt, or further nipping up if a slight leak is suspected.

loosen in correct reverse order, and start over, you'll be ok i do think
Re: Head bolt tightening protocol mistake - what to do
I also vote for loosen and retorque, with glasses on.
I reuse head bolts often.
