Re: 1.6D Golf (Rabbit) White Smoke
been out this morning and ran 1 can of diesel purge through and i think it help
i found a small issue tho
the throttle level works fine but if i put presure on it or lift it slightly the engine note changes, it does leak a little from this area also
how can i fix this??
if it does leak it might be sucking in air which wont help my issue
all help appricated

Re: 1.6D Golf (Rabbit) White Smoke
The Peugeot pump and the VW are nearly identical.
The accelerator lever seal can be changed to reduce leaking. Many discussions here on the process. A bad seal can let fuel out during engine operation and let in air when stopped.
When air gets in the pump, starting can be difficult and running can be rough until the air purges.

You will probably want to replace the throttle shaft bushing as well as the o-ring, given that you have movement in the shaft that shouldn't be there. I believe the new bushings need to be reamed to fit.

Letting in air seems unlikely as the pump is under pressure.jellybelly wrote:been out this morning and ran 1 can of diesel purge through and i think it help

Maybe you are simply agitating the internal spring.
Can you describe any numbers on the pump?
Not sure if UK had the yellow dot pump, but it's from the correct era, and if it is one, then the timing should be 1.15 as a starting point.
