Something I should have done the last clutch job but Is it possible to lower the trans down and slip out the old and install the new? I see the new ones have a taper that may be able to slip through the seal without disturbing the seal position.
What do you guys think?

Re: Clutch push rod R&R with trans. in???
I tried to pull one out from the end once; couldn't do it.
Couldn't get ahold of it good enough.

I pulled one out the other end once. Gripped it with pliers and pulled.

I was thinking either slim needlnose or I have a strong mechanics magnet. Thanks for the info..Good to know there is clearance to slip it out , If I am able to grab it.

After getting it in the best position I have now been able to do this with 3 trannys in my short vw career
I would have some thin handled nice pliers and a strong magnet tool on hand.
