I snapped one of my new rings on install. I am looking for one ring it's the second one down on the piston. Std size.

When I broke one of the oil rings on the rare 1.7 pistons,
total seal was a great help.
They sold me just the oil rings.
They would probably sell you just the second rings.
Just an idea if someone doesn't have an oddball set they can pull a ring from.

My Hastings book lists all sorts of different ring sets for 1588cc VW engines, depending on the piston manuf, year etc. What specific manufacturer ring set and part number ring set are you trying to match?
If you try to buy just one ring for one grove on one piston, you may have almost as much into that one ring as purchasing a whole ring set. You may already know that.
