Picking up a tdi motor with 230k on it what should i do...

This forum is for TDI (Turbo Direct Injection) questions/posts. Non-TDI Motors (Including the 1.6, and 1.9 or other variant turbo diesel motors) should go in the VW Diesel General Forum

intake manifold/egr passages tend to get clogged up on at least some of the tdi motors. I would check/clean before installing. Don't know much else since my 06 TDI is all dealer maintained so far

timing belt, water pump, thermo, clean intake manifold can be a good thing to do especially w/engine out. new motor mounts before installing, oil cooler seals at oil filter, new clutch assembly. if possible measure end-play w/o a trans hooked up. will tell you if thrust bearing is good or needs to be done.
