vw pickup 1.6 Banjo bolt+barb

Post by surfing07 »

Hello, was wondering if anyone had an extra banjo bolt with the two barb fittings? The little barb came off the banjo bold that is the return line to the tank, I cannot seem to get this barb to fit back in the banjo bold, seems to have a little copper washer on it.
Any ideas?

Hi. If your banjo is made the way mine is, the barb is pressed into the banjo body with a slightly tapered press-fit. (Mind you, mine might not be original; I've only ever seen my own). I never had any luck finding another, and ended up brazing it back together. Something to consider if you can't find a replacement. Another tip: you can soften the copper gasket-washers for reuse by heating them with a torch until they glow red and then dropping them into cold water (the opposite of what you do with steel). Good luck and be careful.

Another option is to use a one barb banjo and a tee-fitting in the tank return line.
Have a nice day.
