Heater fan switch. HELP !!!

Post by dubdoc »

My old heater fan switch (bottom below) is very different from the new one (top). I suspect that the new one is from an AC Rabbit. Can anyone tell me how to adapt it? (what wires to move where) These switches are non existent, so don't tell me to get another one please.

Are there any small letters or numbers on the body of the switch, right adjacent to where the base of the electrical terminal is? Do the numbers/letters have any common between the two switches? The terminal with a "C" (for example) should share the same common function, and you would connect the old wires to the lettered terminals that the old one's went to. You may need to insulate the bare terminals that aren't used to be safe from shorts.
Everybody else lists their cars here - but not me.

I have too many to count

I would make a 5x5 matrix for each switch position, that indicates continuity between terminals. Compare that matrix to the original switch connections.

Some dubs with AC had no OFF position on the fan switch, but instead had the air-direction slider switch control the power on/off.
Have a nice day.

Thanks guys. I finally sat down with a circuit diagram, an ohm meter and the new switch and figured it all out. It works !
