Hydro head on mechanical block

Post by Diesel Dean »

I know this been gone over before but I can't find a compleat post on how to do this. I have a 1.6 hydro head that I want to put on a mechanical block. I know the extra drain hole in the head needs to be plugged but will it need to be resurfaced at the plugged hole? Do I use a mech head gasket or hydro head gasket. Thanks

I believe the plug will need surfaced flat so it will seal against the gasket,..
and the mechanical gasket gets used.
I believe that's all there is to it.

Mechanical head on a hydro block takes more work.

The valve guides on my Mach. Block is al worm out. So I found a great deal on a compleat hydro engine for 125.00. The valve guides are almost perfect on the hydro head. That is why I am considering using the hydro head.
