FS: 1983 Jetta N.A. Diesel, Porter Indiana

Post by supersisu »

I bought this car a couple years ago because:
I didn't think I was going to be able to get my Caddy on the road;
It was not rusty;
It had a GreaseCar kit.
I have never used it, only driven it to storage spots. Right now it's sitting in my sister's backyard in Porter, Indiana. I'm in Chicago, it's a bit hard for me to get any repair momentum going. It says "Turbo" on the trunk, but it must have had a N.A. engine swapped in at some point (more about this below in "Cons").
Pros:
Very clean, little rust.
Starts up great.
Clean title in my name.
GreaseCar kit partially installed.
A.C. actually works.
New blower fan. Expensive little thing.
Cons:
Needs windshield.
Fuel filter has no place to go, just hanging there. Needs a bracket of some sort. Turbo intakes change location?
A.C. pump needs to be mounted on bracket correctly. (I'm working on this whenever I can get out there)
Needs tires (they have held air for a year but I don't trust them for high speed).
Carpet nasty. It leaked through a.c. intake surprise surprise. I have drilled a couple holes in the floor to drain.
Seat foam pretty hard.
Exhaust hanging from zip tie.
Temp gauge doesn't seem to work.
Vent windows siliconed in (of course).

I've driven it about 100 miles at slow highway speeds, it seems fine. If I can get the A.C. pump mounted, it would be drivable. The way things are going I won't get it on the road this summer and I don't really need it. It's more of a spare car at this point.

Photos here (taken a couple years ago but condition the same except for carpet):
