5 speed transmission leaking

Post by BlueDog »

Suddenly my manual transmission started leaking gear lube. It appears to be at a joint where two halves of the housing bolt together. I wonder how I could fix this. It leaks pretty fast.

So I did a major cleaning of the area of the leak. It looks like it s actually coming from where the passenger side axle bolts to the transmission. Then it slowly runs to the joint in the transmission halves. Fooled me at first.

Trany flange seals are pretty easy to change.
Some special tools are needed to compress the flange and remove the c-clip.
I've also had a hard to remove seal,.. and I didn't want to mess up the green extender sleeve on the later model trany
