Crankshaft bearing placement?

This is my first time replacing the crankshaft bearings and there's a difference between the replacement set and the originals. If you read the instructions on the box (see phote) it says the bearing with the extra hole belongs in journal #1.

In the first picture I've placed the five bearings in the block and that all looks fine.



In the second picture are the remaining bearings including the one with the oil hole.



Why would the bearing with the oiling hole go into journal #1? Seems it would be better in #2 and put a non-oil hole bearing in #1 since there would be more bearing surface at the timing belt end. Ideas? Is there an oil passage I'm not seeing?

I feel like just using one of the good old bearings in journal #1. Ideas?

You are probably going to put the oil squirters in before the crank right?
They have a pressure valve in them so they don't drop oil pressure at lower RPMs make sure they work.

As far as the main bearings go I can't remember which place to put the cap bearing with the groove.
They lube the rod bearings when the hole is exposed to the groove.
5 mains, 4 rods,.. one won't lose pressure to the rods I can't remember which,... it might be #1.

Yes, I just got some Loctite for the oil squirters and will install those prior to the crankshaft. I've already done a crude test on them with an air nozzle, and they do flow once the pressure is applied. I'm pretty sure they're supposed to open at 20psi but have no way to test it. I just know they're not plugged, they're closed at low psi and open with a good shot of air.

That makes sense on the oil supply to the rod bearings but it's just interesting the stock/factory set-up all had solid bearings in the bearing caps and slotted bearings in the block.

Yeah, I've always thought that was a bit weird too.
